About Arizona
Millions of people travel to Arizona every year
to stand on the edge of the Grand Canyon , play a round of winter golf
or attended an Arizona Cardinals football game. However, some believe
the real attractions in Arizona are less well known and millions of
years old. The ancient ruins of Arizona's original citizens are found
throughout the state. Petroglyphs and pictographs tell the tale of early
Arizona life; a few are even believed to be astrological observations
used to mark the calendar year. Artifacts and dwellings can be seen in
popular locations such as Canyon De Chelly , near Chinle, Arizona;
Walnut Canyon in the Sedona, Arizona, area and a group of ruins can even
be found along the east rim of the Grand Canyon. Those looking for a
more remote, less traveled view of Arizona history should plan a trip to
the Verde Valley Ruins featuring Montezuma's Castle or the Casa Malpais
Archaeological Park.
Located near the town of Springerville Arizona,
the Casa Malpais Archaeological Park offers visitors a unique
perspective into the study of archaeology. Activities at the park
include participation in a site dig, work in the lab, a field lab tour,
a lecture series and guided tours given by archaeologists.
Other historic attractions found in Arizona
include the Painted Desert , the Petrified Forest and the largest ghost
town in the United States. At the Gold Mine and Ghost Town in Jerome,
Arizona, travelers can pan for gold, wander through the town or visit
the petting zoo.
Found along the Arizona section of the world
famous Route 66 is the Grand Canyon Caverns. Located just 22-miles west
of Seligman, Arizona this magnificent cavern dives more than 200-feet
below the Earth's surface and provides an up close look at fossils and
bones of animals that have been extinct for millions of years.
Another site that shouldn't be missed when
visiting the state of Arizona is the Meteor Crater . This site is also
found along Route 66, near Flagstaff, Arizona. The crater was made more
than 50,000 years ago when a giant meteor came crashing into the Earth
leaving a hole 700 feet deep and 4000 feet across. The site resembles
the earth's moon and had been used by NASA as a training site for U.S.
Astronauts.
No matter what brings you to the Grand Canyon
State of Arizona, we hope you will take time to see the less known
treasuries found here.
About California
California USA…What more needs to be said? When
it comes to the American dream, California is the model. Sun, surfers,
beaches; mountains, skiing, hiking; amusement parks, zoos and Hollywood
all waiting for someone to jump in and enjoy the adventure.
California became the 31st state to join the
union on September 9, 1850. The state has always been known to do things
in a big way; examples of this include the California Gold Rush and the
Hollywood film industry. It's no wonder that California is the 3rd
largest state covering 156,537 miles of the American West and a majority
of the American pacific coastline.
Many vacationers to California come to visit the
major tourist attraction, such as Sea World, Disneyland, Universal
Studios and of course the beautiful California beaches. However, some
visitors come for the adventure of the open road and travel California's
highway 101.
Known as California's Coastal Highway, the 101
starts in downtown Los Angeles and travels north through some of the
most scenic vistas in the state. Along the way travelers will experience
the sights and sounds of San Francisco, the tastes and beauty of
California's wine country and end their travels in the mist of the
largest Redwood forest in the world.
Not far off of Highway 101 between Crescent City
and Eureka California is one of the few places where the notorious Big
Foot has been sighted. The city of Happy Camp even holds an annual Big
Foot Jamboree each Labor Day Weekend.
Another big California attraction is Mt. Shasta,
which is part of the largest National Forest in the state. The
Shasta-Trinity National Forest is made up of more than 2 million acres
of forest, hundreds of lakes and climbs from 1,000 feet above sea level
to more than 14, 000 feet when standing on top of Mt. Shasta itself. Mt.
Shasta is a large dormant volcano that is flanked by two smaller
volcanoes, Shastina and Hotlum. The park itself offers hiking, camping
and wilderness exploring. Visitors can find information regarding the
volcanoes and their eruptions in the areas cities and towns.
